Here is the Amazon FBA Storage Fee Calculator, I just did a simple book: 9.6″ x 6.2″ x .4″, and it calculates out to .01 (1c) per month, all thru the year.
There is a higher rate for storage during the Holiday Season, that during the rest of the year, but for many books/media, the charge is minimal, at around 1c per month. You just can’t beat the storage rate, you can’t get a storage unit for these kind of rates.
Storage fees are charged for all Units stored in an Amazon fulfillment center based on calendar month and your daily average volume (measured in cubic feet). The cubic feet of any Unit will be based on the Unit’s size as properly packaged and ready for shipment to customers in accordance with the FBA Program Policies. Amazon will be entitled to make its own measurement of the cubic feet or weight of any packaged Unit or representative sample thereof and in the event of any conflict between such measurement and information provided by Seller, Amazon’s measurement will govern.
Inventory Storage fees are charged on a monthly basis and are typically charged sometime between the 7th and 15th day of the month following the month the fee applies to. For example, if you want to see the Inventory Storage fee you paid for January, refer to the February settlement report that includes the transactions from February 7-15.
Monthly Inventory Storage Fee
|Month||Cost per cubic foot per month|
|January – September||$0.45|
Calculating Cubic Feet from Inches
Multiply length x width x height in inches to get the volume.
Divide the volume by 12 cubic inches (12″ x 12″ x 12″ = 1,728)
Example: A Unit measuring 47″ x 12″ x 10″ divided by 1,728 = 3.3 cu. ft.
There is a lot of good information in the FBA Manual:
